SUMMARY:MTEA/Voces de la Frontera ICE Verifier Training
DESCRIPTION:LOCATION CHANGE! \nMTEA is partnering with Voces de la Frontera\, through their Comité Sin Fronteras\, in response to the Trump Administration’s cruel stance towards undocumented residents\, many of whom are our students\, MPS staff members and families. The ICE Verifier training will take place Tuesday\, February 24\, from 5-7pm at the Washington Park Senior Center\, 4420 W Vliet St. \nTraining Includes: \n\nPrimary responsibilities of verifiers\, which include: confirming ICE presence\, recording agents\, and reporting details back to personnel in the Voces office\nHow to respond if ICE is present\nKnow Your Rights (KYR) overview\nSafe Protocols — Verifiers should never put themselves at risk or escalate situations. Verifiers work in pairs or groups (never alone)\n\nIf you are already trained as an ICE Verifier\, please let us know in the form below.  Registration is required for this session as space is limited\, please fill out the form below.

SUMMARY:MPS Community Budget Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Superintendent Cassellius and School Board President Zombor are on a public media tour to try and pit MPS workers\, MPS families and the community against each other.  We have seen this shameful tactic from Administration before and MTEA members as always remain in solidarity with MPS families. \nWe will stand together as one union to fight for a full 2.63% cost of living increase on July 1\, 2026\, salary schedule steps and no cuts to healthcare. We know this is the only way to retain and recruit the public education workers our students need to fully staff their schools and classrooms. \nSuperintendent Cassellius will hold Community Budget Meetings where the public can attend and speak to their priorities in the MPS budget.\n\nIt is critical that MTEA members attend one or both of these events to ensure MPS families and our community know the truth. \nTuesday\, February 24 at 6pm at James Madison Academic Campus (JMAC) – 8135 W Florist Ave\nTuesday\, March 3 at 6pm at Riverside High School – 1615 E Locust St \nIt is very important that MTEA members stand together in solidarity every step of the way as we fight for the budget MPS students\, workers\, families and the community deserve.
