SUMMARY:Dr. King Resource Writing Session
DESCRIPTION:Come and join Cara Slingerland (High School English Teacher)\, 2023 recipient of the MLK Educator of the Year Award\, along with Rakia Jones (Elementary Teacher) 2024 recipient of the MLK Educator of the Year Award\, in a session that will guide and inspire you to help your students do their absolute best on the MTEA sponsored MLK Writing Contest! \nMTEA is a proud sponsor of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. writing contest. Submissions for the Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. writing contest are due no later than Friday\, November 13\, 2026. This year’s theme is “A Look to the Future” from Dr. King’s 1957 “A Look to the Future” address. \n“In order to look to the future\, it is often necessary to get a clear picture of the past.”\n\nStudents can reflect on these words and how they relate to themselves or others in their families\, schools\, neighborhoods or the world. \nMembers can get helpful information as your students work on their submissions for the Dr. King writing contest. \nJoin us on Tuesday\, October 6 from 4:30-6pm at the MTEA Building.  This session has been cancelled due to lack of registration. \nClick here to download the 2026 Writing Contest flyer \nClick here for more details on all of the contests \n
