DESCRIPTION:This session has been cancelled due to conflict.  All participants will be emailed\, and a new date will be scheduled. \nIn partnership with Milwaukee Turners\, MTEA will be hosting a legal observer training:  \nWhat Legal Observers Do:\nLegal Observers are trained volunteers who monitor and document interactions between law enforcement and civilians at demonstrations\, marches\, rallies\, and other public events.\n• Observe law enforcement behavior\n• Take notes\, photos\, or video as appropriate\n• Help ensure people’s constitutional rights are respected\n• Provide documentation that may be used if rights violations or misconduct need to be reviewed or challenged \nVolunteer Role:\n• Serve as visible\, non-partisan witnesses at public events\n• Help promote accountability through accurate documentation\n• No prior legal experience is required—just a commitment to civil liberties and adherence to training protocols \nThis training is a meaningful way for members to support community rights and democratic participation.

DESCRIPTION:MTEA Know Your Rights Training – Virtual on Wednesday\, February 25 or March 25\nMTEA proudly offers Know Your Rights (KYR) virtual training. Members will learn Know Your Rights information for home\, work\, school and public spaces. \nThe Trump administration aims to stoke fear in immigrant communities across this country through its complete disregard for due process to deport people who are undocumented or in the process of obtaining legal status. \nAll of us have constitutional rights we can exercise and the right to a free public education\, regardless of legal status. MTEA members will not let fear win! Education\, organizing and solidarity action are our way forward. \nMTEA members can attend this training to learn more about how we can protect our family members\, neighbors\, students and their families\, and fellow union members. \nJoin us virtually on Wednesday\, February 25 or March 25 from 5-6pm. The link for the virtual session will be sent out on Wednesday\, February 25 or March 25.  This session is for School Defense Teams only. Registration for March 25 is now closed and the link has been sent out.
