Dr. King Resource Writing Session
October 6 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Come and join Cara Slingerland (High School English Teacher), 2023 recipient of the MLK Educator of the Year Award, along with Rikia Jones (Elementary Teacher) 2024 recipient of the MLK Educator of the Year Award, in a session that will guide and inspire you to help your students do their absolute best on the MTEA sponsored MLK Writing Contest!
MTEA is a proud sponsor of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. writing contest. Submissions for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. writing contest are due no later than Friday, November 13, 2026. This year’s theme is “A Look to the Future” from Dr. King’s 1957 “A Look to the Future” address.
“In order to look to the future, it is often necessary to get a clear picture of the past.”
Students can reflect on these words and how they relate to themselves or others in their families, schools, neighborhoods or the world.
Members can get helpful information as your students work on their submissions for the Dr. King writing contest.
Join us on Tuesday, October 6 from 4:30-6pm at the MTEA Building. Please register below to ensure we have enough materials on hand.
