Membership in the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association puts you in good company with over 5,600 teachers, paraprofessionals, safety assistants, nurses, social workers, speech pathologists, CHAs, LPNs, building service helpers, food service workers, and other professionals who make sure all children have the support, resources and guidance they need to learn and succeed.
MTEA gives members a strong voice to advocate for our students’ right to a quality public education, and input into administrative decisions that directly affect our students and our profession.

Advocating for our Students’ Right to a Quality Public Education
Students in Milwaukee have the right to a quality public education, regardless of their zip code. MTEA works with parents, legislators and community members to demand quality public education. We oppose any takeover of our public schools and vow to protect our students from the threat of privatization.

Teaching and Learning Support
Sessions at the Milwaukee Center for Teaching, Learning and Public Education are free to MTEA members. Professional Development opportunities include sessions on culturally responsive teaching, restorative practice, Educator Effectiveness and other member-led sessions.
Representation & Support
MTEA assists members with health insurance, retirement, financial planning, transfers, reassignments, the interview process, family medical and professional leaves and more.
License & Evaluation Assistance
Receive support from MTEA for Educator Effectiveness, National Board certification and all DPI license renewal.
